Israel’s recognition of ‘Somaliland’ a violation of international law

Pakistan has strongly rejected any attempt to undermine the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Somalia and said that Israel’s recognition of the independence of the so-called ‘Somaliland’ region of Somalia is a violation of international law.

A statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson said that such illegal and provocative actions not only threaten the peace and stability of the brotherly country of Somalia but also harm the peace and security of the entire region.

The international community should reject such actions and play an effective role in preventing Israel from undermining the ongoing efforts for peace and stability in the region.

Pakistan reiterates its full support for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia and will continue to support all efforts for lasting peace and stability in the country.

The statement reiterated in unequivocal terms that Pakistan completely rejects any move to forcibly displace the Palestinians from their land in any form and will continue its unwavering support for the just struggle of the Palestinian people for their right to self-determination.

Strong support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital was also reiterated.
