Creamy Ground Beef Pasta
Creamy Ground Beef Pasta
This is not my recipe, but rather the viral version that was flying around the internet. We cooked it side by side with the Spicy Sausage Pasta in a friendly competition to see which one we liked better. In the video, you can see I clearly preferred my version. But after we finished, and I had a couple more bites it started to grow on me - though I still like mine better.
Ingredients
Neutral oil:
1 pound ground beef
3 tablespoons butter
1 medium onion, diced
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon dried basil
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
1 tablespoon flour
1 cup beef broth
2 cups tomato sauce
1 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
5 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
10 ounces pasta of your choice - I used penne
Parsley for garnish
Directions
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium/high, add beef and cook, breaking it up as you go until no longer pink - remove and set aside
Add the butter, 2 more tablespoon of oil, the onions and cook until softened - when soft add the garlic, basil & paprika – mix well
Sprinkle over the flour stirring well for 1 minute, then add the broth, tomato sauce and cream - mix until smooth and let simmer on low a few minutes to thicken
Then add the cooked beef and cheese, and when the cheese melts, put in the pasta - mix well and serve garnished with parsley
